Who said Tigers were extinct in Hong Kong?

Apparently, according to local historians, the last tiger was killed in Hong Kong just outside Stanley in 1942. Well let me tell you now that just outside Stanley, in Tai Tam, Tigers are back in Hong Kong and roaring their way around the local football fields of the area!

Yes, Playsport have been successfully running the Tai Tam Tigers Soccer Program and other football academies for young, aspiring soccer players of the future from ages 3-16 for the past 10 years. These teams, which altogether involve over 250 players, play competitive football in the Hong Kong Youth Leagues against formidable opposition such as the Hong Kong Football Academy, Hong Kong Football Club, Discovery Bay Dragons FC, the Brazilian Soccer Schools and Dragon Shooters FC and even go abroad and play in international tournaments.

The Tigers at the U14 age group could be regarded as being one of the best teams in Asia after not only convincingly winning the Hong Kong Youth League in 2005 and 2006 but also winning the Beijing International Unity Cup and the Active Kids Shanghai International Soccer Tournament. In fact, last season (2005/06), they went the whole season unbeaten and never conceded a single goal!

Who is their coach I hear you say! Who is the man that has developed this team and molded them into an outfit capable of competing with and beating the best that there is in Asia. Well let me tell you that it is no one other than Playsport founder/director Joey Livesey. Along with a team of dedicated and experienced coaches which include Hong Kong International athlete Mark Williams and our very own master of Samba Gorgeinio Nunes, he has and continues to develop high quality football players that will be coming to a football pitch near you!
