CHARITY SUPPORT
Thanks to your continued support of our company we, in turn, are delighted to offer support to the following children specific charities.
Springboard
Springboard caters for children with a variety of mild to moderate learning disabilities and aims to provide special needs children with Quality Education and Enrichment in a Positive Environment.
Play Sport are pleased to support the annual Springboard Walkathon - this year there were over 400 participants and 200 walkers. As well as being in aid of a worthwhile cause the Walkathon is a great family day out so please come along next year.
Christian Action
Play Sport have recently commenced a child sponsorship programme with the Hong Kong based registered charity Christian Action. Christian Action provides support to the unemployed, new arrivals, domestic helpers, migrant workers, the elderly and youth in Hong Kong through training and social welfare services. In 1997 they extended their services to Mainland China, dedicated to child welfare and poverty alleviation. In 1998 Christian Action set up the Xining Children's Home, the first children's home in Qinghai Province, a desperately poor province in the north-west of China.
Meet our sponsored child...
Nickname : Yunxiao
Age : 1 year 6 months
Little Yunxiao cannot see your face, and cannot hear what you say, as she suffers from cerebral palsy, as well as visual and auditory impairment. Due to low muscle tone, Yunxiao also has difficulties in lifting her head, or sitting in an upright position.
When you enter the Infant Class, you will be attracted by this little one, Yunxiao, as she has large eyes and a sweet smile. Yunxiao has dark complexion and is like a ray of "sunshine" to those who love her. Yunxiao is a quiet baby and does not cry without a reason. She likes to lie on the bed, waiting for someone to play with her and give her attention.
Yunxiao needs rehabilitation training, in order to help her develop a certain degree of independence. If you would like further details about the work Christian Action do in Hong Kong or Mainland China or would like to sponsor a child please contact Rita Lau on 2716 8862

Biographical Sketch
Yunxiao was abandoned at the doorstep of a resident’s house when she was about one year old. The resident then sent her to the police station. Despite investigation by the police, her parents could not be traced and Yunxiao was admitted to our Children's Home.
Yunxiao suffers from cerebral palsy and severe low intelligence and has difficulties in hearing, vision, speech, eating and swallowing. She has been sent back from the foster family to our Children’s Home almost two years ago. She now lives happily under the good care of our carers of the Special Needs Group.
A Personal Look
Yunxiao is a pretty girl with a sweet round face, large eyes, tiny nose and a small mouth. Therefore, the carers call her 'the beauty'. She is a quiet child and does not interact much. but sometimes she loves to be hugged. Yunxiao likes to laugh and play on her own. When she wakes up in the morning and after her afternoon nap, she is in an extremely good mood and she loves to swing.
Yunxiao enjoys attending rehabilitation treatment to improve her sensory reaction. After training, she has become very sensitive to the environmental changes. She enjoys going for outings and laughs happily when someone takes her out.
Yunxiao's Wish List
Yunxiao wishes to receive more individual love, to be hugged and to go outdoors to enjoy the sunshine. We try our best to ensure that she lives happily everyday.
